Ending a privilege found almost nowhere else in Southern California, the San Diego City Council has voted to prohibit alcohol on city beaches, Mission Bay Park and several inland parks, effective April 17.

Trial booze ban at La Jolla Shores is running out

Signs are still up at La Jolla Shores reminding beach visitors that alcohol is banned there, but at midnight today the temporary prohibition will be lifted.
