Video cameras will be out in force at San Diego beaches this Memorial Day weekend, but they won’t all be capturing family picnics or children playing in the waves.

Some will be used to tape drunks.

You can still roll out the barrel at San Diego city beaches and parks.

The beer industry-funded drive to shrug off the city’s beach booze ban succeeded at least temporarily yesterday when San Diego City Council members voted to rescind the ban rather than pay for a special election needed to defend it.

Virtually all the financial support for a group formed to block a booze ban on San Diego beaches came from beer distributors and others who sell alcohol, according to city records.
